A Day In My Life: Post 1 for Rave Reviews Book Club

1/2/2023

A writer is supposed to write, right? Well, it’s not happening today, except for this post. It’s January 2nd and I’m sipping leftover champagne while unpacking Christmas gifts. My washing machine sounds like it’s spinning out of control. Even worse, my place is a mess. I’m one of those people who is highly visual so, the neater my surroundings, the tighter my writing.

The thing is, as I type these words, I’m realizing how much I needed a holiday from what I jokingly refer to as Donna, Inc. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do, even though it has been part time undertaking, at best. It’s just that I’ve been banging my head against the wall for years now. That’s because every aspect of my life needed to be dealt with, starting with my relationships. As a result, a divorce and cross country move became necessary, but I’m glad someone from above spearheaded all of this. Frankly, I'm happier and healthier as a result. (More about all of this in future posts.) Equally important, I can finally concentrate. This has naturally improved my writing - no master’s degree required.

What people may be surprised to learn is that it's because of my writing hiatus, that I've gained a lot of respect for myself. There's been nothing harder for me than mostly setting aside my chosen profession, rolling up my sleeves and dealing with uncomfortable people and situations. Nevertheless, the peace of mind and knowledge I've attained over the last several years has proven priceless. So has the wisdom.

That being said, the spin cycle in my washing machine has come to a blessed end. Time to finish up the laundry and cook something for dinner. I’ll catch you guys on the flip side. Happy New Year!

Wishing you love and light,
Donna M. Atwood

I'm happy we have this blogging challenge, or else I most probably wouldn't be writing each day. I need to clear out the cobwebs in my head that have accumulated over the past year.

Hi Suzanne, thanks for sharing this with me. Believe me, I know about cobwebs all too well. I'm just now getting in the swing of all this and will be responding to your blog today. I too think this challenge is an excellent way to start a great habit. Happy New Year!

My washing machine is 17 years old and still kicking, sometimes quite loudly. I've been putting everything on the medium spin because I don't want it break any time soon. Lol! I'm happy you are joining us on the blogging challenge, Donna!

Hi Yvette! I had to laugh when I read about your washing machine! The noise here in my condo drives me bonkers so I'm mostly doing my loads on the gentle cycle these days. Please know that I'm just now getting in the swing of all this blogging and will be stopping by your posts as well. It's been awhile since I've done all this lol, but I think it's kinda like riding a bicycle. Take care and best wishes!

So glad you've joined this challenge, Donna! Sometimes it takes major life changes for us to become who we're meant to be. Growth hurts, but the results are worth the pain.

Blessings!

My dear, Donna! How I am so loving that you are part of the challenge! Many won't know that you are a precious LIFETIME MEMBER of RRBC and that you were here early on! I loved your post and it is so funny that we are talking about washers and dryers on along this journey. I noticed Yvette's comment about hers, and Maura Beth Brennan and I were discussing it on her blog. Believe it or not, the dryer guy is at my daughter's house today for her dryer. One of those new-age ones. Mine is old and it's still ticking and working like a charm! I can't wait to follow along with all that you have going on. Also, we need to chat! I'll be calling you on the weekend! I miss you, and you already know how much you are adored!

Love ya!

Hi Nonnie!

It's so good to hear from you!!!! Ah yes, the dreaded laundry room issues that so many of us must deal with. Then again, nobody wants dirty clothes - or worse yet - mildewy towels! Haha! It's so fun to hear you mention the early days of RRBC...I'm looking forward to chatting with you and would have called you already but I have no idea what I did with your phone number! Anyway, it'll go into my cell when you call. I love, love, love you back! Thanks for having me and allowing me to hang out with you guys...this is really FUN!

Much love,
Donna

Hi, Donna! I don’t believe we’ve met, but I’m glad you’re here. I’m catching up on our blogs and leaving comments today. I agree, it’s hard for me to set aside the writing and deal with real life. I’d much rather remain in a world that I control. But, when I roll up my sleeves, deal with uncomfortable people and situations, I can regain my balance and go back to my real world.😀

Hi Linda, thank you for dropping by! : )
To be honest, I'm hopeful this blog challenge will help me to get back in the habit of writing 5 to 6 days per week. 7 days is ok for this challenge, but in reality, my brain needs a day of rest. I find my thinking to be quicker and clearer after I take a day off. It's also better when I exercise. It's like my critical thinking skills and creativity come roaring back to life - haha! Best wishes, Donna : )

Hi Donna.

I'm finally taking some time to get over to your blog posts. My life has been so hectic this entire month and it still is. I'll be making my rounds to your other posts soon. Taking time out is always good for the soul.

    About My Encounters
    By D. M. Atwood

"More than anything, I want to connect with others who've been through extraterrestrial, UFO or paranormal  encounters. Such events leave you with so many unanswered questions...but often, that's just the beginning. What I mean is, some folks, like myself, go through bizarre things afterwards. For me, a fifty minute encounter with a large, luminous orb marked the beginning of a complete and total spiritual transformation. Honestly, what I've been through has been beyond difficult, yet it's been magical and mystical and has opened doors and opportunities for me that I never would've thought possible. Strange as it may sound, I'm truly grateful for my experiences because I now know we're not alone. To feel as connected to the universe as I do is an incredible gift. I now see life completely differently and I'm much happier for it."
