ABOUT D. M. ATWOOD
Ever since the fourth grade, D. M. Atwood (Donna) always knew she would become a professional writer. After raising a family and running two high tech start-ups, she finally got her lucky break.
Today, Donna draws upon her B.A. in psychology to develop multifaceted characters, while her background as a nanotechnology business owner serves as the foundation for her futuristic technologies - a mainstay of the science fiction genre. Additionally, her training in the field of massage therapy introduced her to the significance of the human energy field and subtle energies, while her decade-plus-long research of and direct experiences with extraterrestrials and UFOs, has contributed to her knowledge of such phenomena.
ALTERNATE REALITIES: An Anthology, (2024), is where D. M. Atwood first entertains readers through her exploration of topics apropos for the 21st century. These include space-based weapons; transhumanism; alien abductions; interdimensional beings; nanotechnology; the coming technological singularity; and more.
Donna grew up in Florida and Missouri. As a little girl, she had a fascination with science, spurred on by visits to her local planetarium. However, it was her exposure to the television series, Star Trek and the motion picture, Star Wars that really captured her imagination.
In high school, she made a point to enroll in as many English and Journalism classes as she could, but it wasn't until her college years that she truly began to find her voice as a writer. As a young adult, (after being discouraged from becoming an author by a family member), she considered a career in the dental profession, but quickly grew restless. In her 20's, her interests expanded to include sociology, psychology, advertising, and marketing.
In the mid 1990's, Donna became fascinated with nanotechnology and the impacts it could eventually have on society. As such, she encouraged her then-husband, an atmospheric scientist, to learn about this emerging field. The couple read a number of books and over time, came up with a conceptual nanotechnology-enabled observing system known as Global Environmental Micro Sensors (GEMS).
Within a few years, she went on to open Mano Nanotechnologies, Inc. During this time, (while penning a section of a government proposal depicting how the GEMS system could be used for planetary exploration), she realized she had an affinity for writing science fiction. Time marched on. After securing a number of government-funded projects, The Great Recession made it difficult for the couple to obtain additional funding. As a result, Donna closed Mano Nano and moved to New York. She and her husband re-opened the high-tech start-up and ultimately created and tested a new technology known as GlobalSense.
After settling in to New York, her outside interests took an unexpected twist. This occurred when she experienced a 50-minute-long encounter with an unidentified aerial phenomena, (UAP). However, well before witnessing this luminous plasma sphere, Donna recalled two separate interactions with three Grey extraterrestrials. These took place when she was only four years old. Still, it wasn't until after the UAP encounter that she began to study the history of UFOs as well as the Grey alien abduction phenomenon in earnest. From there she researched a variety of topics including New Age spirituality; complementary/alternative medicine; genetic manipulation and transhumanism; advanced weapons systems; the potential for bases on the Moon and Mars; and starseeds, indigo children and soul walk-ins, among others. Suddenly, Donna found herself motivated to build another career - this time as an author. Now, two "practice novels" and numerous novelettes/novellas later, she is close to publishing ALTERNATE REALITIES.
D.M. Atwood graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Psychology from Argosy University as well as the prestigious Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy in Albany, NY. Presently, she is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the New York State Writers Institute, the American Massage Therapy Association, and Rave Reviews Book Club. Donna proudly supports the Phoenix chapter of the Mutual UFO Network. Additionally, she is the founder of ALIEN EXPERIENCERS NETWORK, a public service organization geared toward serving the unique needs of contactees and ALIEN EXPERIENCERS NETWORKING GROUP. The latter is geared for those interested in networking for work-related projects, participating in deep discussions on the ET/UAP topic and creating lasting friendships. Donna currently resides in Tucson, Arizona.
